Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd
20 Summer St. (opposite the old Town Hall)

Summer is upon us as we celebrate Pentecost (Whitsunday) on June 4 and Trinity Sunday on June 11 and enter Trinitytide, a long period of the church year between Trinity Sunday and Advent. The liturgical color of Trinitytide is green – a color reflected in the fields and hills of New Hampshire this time of year.

On the Third Sunday after Easter, Bishop Marsh admitted Scott Chase of Springfield, Vermont, to the Order of Subdeacons. Subdeacons are laymen who assist Priests and Deacons at services of Holy Communion by reading the Epistle, administering the chalice, and bearing the Processional Cross when needed. Scott is a postulate for Holy Orders in the Anglican Church in American and this is another step in his journey. We held a little celebration in the Parish Hall after the morning service to welcome him in his new liturgical role in the life of our parish.

Mark your calendars! Our fourth annual Vacation Bible School will be held on July 10-14. If you have children (or visiting grandchildren) attending grades K-5, these morning sessions (9:30-12:00 noon) are for you. Summer Thunder, led by youth ministers from the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), are high energy, fun packed mornings of songs, games, Bible stories, snacks, and crafts. The theme of VBS this year will be “Discovering Jesus.” The kids will become “detectives” and each day they will discover new clues in the Scriptures that lead them to discover who Jesus is. Children are encouraged to bring friends because sharing makes the mornings that much more fun.
