We are grateful to the Charlestown Historical Society for funding the restoration of the 19th century hitching post that now stands in front of our church. It is wonderful to preserve this little piece of the history of this lovely, old building.

November promises to be an active month as we remember the many blessings that we have received over the past year. The Morning Prayer services on Sunday morning at the Fort at No. 4 have come to an end and will resume in early May 2016. The parsons, who serve at the Fort, will bless the fruits of harvest at the harvest dinner at Fort at No. 4 on Saturday evening, November 14. Be sure to make reservations at As in the past, a number of us from Good Shepherd will be transported back to a simpler time as we dine on delicious food by the light of candles in the Great Hall of the Fort.

We look forward to joining other churches in Charlestown in a service of worship and thanksgiving on Sunday evening, November 15, hosted this year by Life Fellowship Foursquare Church. The offerings of food and money will benefit the Fall Mountain Food Shelf. Finally, Good Shepherd will celebrate Holy Eucharist at 8:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day before heading off to family gatherings. So often we pray for our needs and those of others, but we forget to give thanks when our prayers are answered. Take a little time on this special day to thank God for His mercy, blessings, and presence in our community.
